For Grand’Italia, one of the Netherlands’ most loved pasta brands, we created a fresh digital presence that balances tradition with modern usability. As the UX/UI designer, I focused on building a warm and intuitive experience that reflects the brand’s authentic Italian roots.
From wireframes to final UI, my role centered on clear navigation, responsive design, and a friendly aesthetic that works for both seasoned cooks and curious food lovers. The result is a platform that’s easy to use, visually inviting, and encourages people to explore the brand’s recipes and products.
Research Phase
Before starting the design, we looked at how people interact with food and recipe websites. We ran a benchmark analysis, created user personas, mapped customer journeys, and built a sitemap to understand user needs and define a clear structure.
Through competitor research and user interviews, we learned that users value easy navigation, clear recipe overviews, and a warm, trustworthy feel. These insights formed the foundation for the new Grand’Italia website.
Wireframing
Based on our research, I created low- and mid-fidelity wireframes to map out the layout and user flow. These wireframes let us test structure, content hierarchy, and functionality early on, before diving into visual design. By keeping clarity and usability front and center, we made sure the website would feel intuitive on any device.
UI design
Once the wireframes were approved, I turned them into a clean, warm visual style that fits the Grand’Italia brand. Using their colors, typography, and food photography, I designed an interface that feels both modern and authentic. We paid extra attention to detail, consistency, and accessibility, making sure it works smoothly across all devices.
Throughout this phase, we worked closely with the Grand’Italia team. Frequent check-ins and feedback rounds ensured the design stayed true to the brand and met their goals. This collaboration helped us fine-tune everything quickly and confidently, resulting in a final design we were all proud of.
